Kiyama Earns Academic All-District Nod

UC Davis senior women's water polo player Lindsay Kiyama earned first-team honors on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 At-Large squad, presented by ESPN The Magazine. She was one of two Aggie student-athletes to make the team, joining senior tennis player Randi Schuler.

Kiyama, an attacker from Concord, Calif., was one of 32 individuals named to one of the three rolls for the University Division's District 8, which encompasses all Division I programs in the West. Her inclusion on the first team automatically advances her as a nominee for Academic All-America status.

Kiyama, Miller Lead UC Davis All-Big West Honoree

Senior attacker Lindsay Kiyama was selected to the 2009 Big West Women's Water Polo All-Conference first team while defender Kaylee Miller shared Freshman of the Year honors to lead four UC Davis student-athletes honored among the league's inaugural awards, it was announced by information director Mike Villamor Wednesday.

Junior Ashley Chandler and sophomore Dakotah Mohr each made the All-Big West Conference second team. Miller added all-conference honorable mention to her Freshman of the Year accolades.

No. 9 Aggies Place Third At Big West Tournament

Senior attacker Lindsay Kiyama scored three goals to lead ninth-ranked UC Davis to a 10-6 win over No. 13 Cal State Northridge in the third-place game of the Big West Conference women's water polo championship tournament, held at Pacific's Chris Kjeldsen Pool Sunday.

The Aggies, seeded second in the tournament, finish the year at 23-10. This is the 11th straight season that UC Davis has eclipsed the 20-win barrier. The Matadors, top seed in the championship, end their season at 20-16.
